Martin Lings was an important Traditionalist/Perennialist author. After his passing in 2005, World Wisdom has made various materials available from interviews with Dr. Lings himself (see the other slideshow “Martin Lings: Video Clips on his Early Spiritual Influences”; other slideshows will be forthcoming) and now with others on Dr. Ling’s life and legacy.

This slideshow features video clips of memories of Martin Lings by two old friends: Jean-Louis Michon and Jean-Claude Petitpierre. Both of these men knew Dr. Lings for many years and were closely associated with him.

In this video clip, author, translator, and Islamic and Sufi scholar Jean-Louis Michon recalls how Martin Lings introduced him to René Guénon (Shaykh Abdul Wahid) in 1947 in Cairo. Dr. Michon also recalls the beautiful surroundings of the little village near the pyramids in Giza where Lings lived at that time.
