John Ahmed Herlihy takes readers on a journey of understanding to the heart of Islam, the world’s fastest
growing religion. Weaving details of Islam’s central beliefs and practices—its Five Pillars—with intimate
autobiographical details of his more than thirty years in the religion, Herlihy provides readers with an insightful
glimpse into a religion that currently claims more than one billion adherents and yet remains so often
misunderstood in the West. In Wisdom’s Journey Herlihy speaks openly about his conversion to Islam
and intimately retells his moving experiences while performing the pilgrimage to the sacred city of Mecca
and to the tomb of the Prophet in Medina.
Author John Ahmed Herlihy previously published Borderlands of the Spirit: Reflections on a Sacred Science of Mind with World Wisdom. It was described as "perhaps the best exposition of traditional cognitive psychology to have appeared in recent times", and is a series of reflections on mankind's relationship with Absolute Reality and the lesser reality of our own multi-dimensional nature. In Wisdom’s Journey, Herlihy speaks less theoretically, and demonstrates many of the concepts of his earlier book through the story of his own direct experiences.
