The Ananda Coomaraswamy Essay Prize for the best essay on a traditional symbol or symbolism

Eye of the Heart journal (see below) and the Philosophy and Religious Studies program at La Trobe University announce the Ananda Coomaraswamy Essay Prize. The purpose of the prize is to encourage writing, following the lead of Coomaraswamy, on a traditional symbol or symbolism itself. Prizes are offered for best essay in an open category and best post-graduate essay. Each winner receives up to $200 worth of books and shipping from World Wisdom, as well as from another publisher. Paul Goble Author Signing at ALA Conference!

World Wisdom was pleased to host world renowned author, Paul Goble, for a book signing of his newest work, All Our Relatives: Traditional Native American Thoughts on Nature, at the 2006 American Library Association show in Chicago, June 25-28 .

"Paths to the Heart" Conference on Sufism and the Christian East was October 18-20, 2001.

The "Paths to the Heart" Conference on Sufism and the Christian East took place in Columbia, South Carolina on October 18-20, 2001. Internationally recognized spiritual leaders and scholars gathered for three days of presentation and dialogue concerning the mystical and contemplative dimensions of Eastern Christianity and Islam. For those who missed the conference, almost all of the content was collected into a book, Paths to the Heart: Sufism and the Christian East.


Sacred Web conference on "Tradition in the Modern World" was September 23 & 24, 2006

The traditionalist journal Sacred Web sponsored a conference of great interest titled "Tradition in the Modern World." There were presentations from many of the world's most prominent traditionalist thinkers and writers, including Prof. Seyyed Hossein Nasr, Prof. Huston Smith, Prof. James Cutsinger, and many others. A number of presentations by a new generation of traditionalist writers were featured as well. A 2-disk DVD of conference highlights is available.

Eye of the Heart is a new journal in the field of Traditional Philosophy and Religious Studies

Some very good news for readers with an interest in Perennialist/Traditionalist studies: Eye of the Heart is a new scholarly, peer-reviewed journal which "addresses the inner meaning of philosophy and religion through elucidations of metaphysical, cosmological, and soteriological principles, and through a penetration of the forms preserved in each religious tradition."

The executive editor of Eye of the Heart is Dr Timothy Scott of La Trobe University in Bendigo, Australia. The first issue of Eye of the Heart is due for release in May, 2008. Visit the journal’s website for more information.
